It looks like I need to dust the cobwebs off here ........... and now blogger has changed since I last posted..... so fingers crossed I get it right...........

I thought I'd share with you some photos of some of the things I have made for the Cotswold School Market Day tomorrow. The Market Day runs from 9am - 2pm ....... come and say hello. Auckland Big Day out - Fathers Day Petite Pocket card

Here is a card that I made using new product for my presentation in Auckland on Saturday.

This is using the new Petite Pocket die, Tempting Turquoise embossing powder and the new Denim Blue Ribbon.

Materials
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Tempting Turquoise
Stamps: Extreme Elements, Teeny Tiny SentimentsBigshot: Bigz XL Petite Pocket Die, Square Lattice Embossing Folder
Ink: Night of Navy, Versamark
Punch: Word WindowDSP: Tempting Turquoise (Brights DSP Paper Patterns Stack)
Other: Tombow Multi, Dimensionals, Embossing Buddy, Tempting Turquoise Embossing powder.

What I have done here is attach the pocket using dimensionals to the bottom 2/3rds of the pocket so that the ribbon can be slid on and off so you can get access to the gift card inside. These pockets are the perfect for plastic gift cards. I have used an embossing buddy before I versamarked and heat seat the new Tempting Turquoise Embossing powder. This looks great on dark card. When I started out with this card I would never have put Tempting Turquoise with Night of Navy but it grew on me and I quite like it now.

The ribbon - I tied to make it look like a mini man's tie the great part about that is that you can easily adjust the ribbon to tighten it up around the Pocket Die also making it easy for the recipient to get into the pocket to get their gift card out.

Sorry for the delay in posting this I will try and post what I presented over the next few days as I get time (life is a tad hectic with trying to get our business up and running in Bishopdale since moving out of the CBD after the 22nd February Earthquake) hopefully we will be up and running soon as our insurance ran out on 22nd August so let's hope that we can open in the next few days fingers crossed.

Lots of Bots Birthday card - water coloured version

Other: Tombow Multi, Dimensionals, Frost White shimmer paint also shimmer paint made into shimmer mist (except I now know my alcohol concentration was wrong when I made it hence the slightly more splattered look)

............. the only things different I used on this card was the two inks on water coloured card. I love water colouring now ......... until I went to our Stampin' Up! Convention a couple of years back water colouring did my head in and we had a love hate relationship............. but one of the other Demonstrators Alisa Tilsner and one of the Stampin' Up! Head office staff from the USA (I can't remember who it was if you remember please let me know) showed us how to water colour - I used to over colour but you have to leave white bits and one thing that I always have to do now is ground or anchor an image so it doesn't look like it is stranded in the middle of a piece of card........... if you don't know what I mean it is the gray stripe underneath the robot so it looks like he is standing on the ground...... not flying through the air. All you need to ground things is about two quick flicks with a water brush back and forth - again less is more.

I'm not sure how many more daily posts I will be able to do I've been working more than full time and haven't got back to my craft room to start making more samples but I will try.

You have probably guessed that this is one of the embossing folders I use the most....... and here was me thinking when I got it why did I get that ................ but it is so well used. Hopefully l'll get back tomorrow and post something else - I think I might have to start programming in some posts automatically....... now that would be organised. Sympathy cards

Now I don't do sympathy cards well......... I don't know whether it because I don't like doing sympathy cards (not because I don't like making cards) just for the reason I'm making them............ I found this really nice card on Mary Fish's Blog and thought oh that would look nice as a Sympathy card and the hard part was I had to make more than one............. and I had new stamp sets I wanted to play with too. Mary has done a video on how to make the vase using one of the Hostess sets called Punch Potpourri (using the stamp that matches the two step bird punch who would have guessed I really like the flower that matches the Boho Blossoms punch too). So if you wish to get one of these sets you will need to host a workshop (or save up your spending money and have a little party by yourself shhh no one will know).......... do you know how often Stampin' Up! demonstrators have their own little parties and earn these :-).............shh I won't post here but ask me if you want to know more about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator............ Puss in Boots Punch Art

Happy New Year everyone ........... wow where did last year go?

Oh the dilemma as to what I should post next.......... a while back I saw this punch art when I was blog hopping and had to go back and find it.........it was in unfortunate circumstances that I wanted to make a card our neighbours, their cat had got run over and I wanted to make a sympathy card so I wanted to make Puss in Boots like this but in different colours as their cat was ginger and white (I won't share that card with you as it wasn't as good as the original of Angela's). I was downloading photos trying to decide what to post tonight and someone has been playing with my camera again........... I have found a heap of photos a small person has taken so I thought I would share one with you please tell me I am not the only messy creator .......... I'm sure it looks way worse from a small child's perspective....... I'd love to see your areas............. there is table under there - it's black.......... I can say it is NOT as messy now.

Scallop Circle 40th Birthday card

Here is one of the other cards made using Rich Razzleberry for a friend that I promised I'd post.

Other: Circle Scissor Plus, Tombow Multi, Heat and stick powder and Supernova Glitter Pink.

I used a couple of layers of heat and stick powder to make sure I got good coverage of the glitter on the numbers a couple of bits didn't have glitter on so I just got my versamarker and put plenty of ink on where I missed and added more heat and stick and then more glitter to get better coverage.

If you want to know how to do the embossing around the edges so you can have a flat stamping area in the middle go to the post on how to do that I have written up a mini tutorial on how I did it.

Stampin' Up! Two Step Bird Punch - Flowers in a Vase

Here is a vase of flowers made using the Stampin' Up! Two step bird punch and Ornament punch. When the Bird punch first came out I thought why do I need a bird punch what on earth am I going to do with it......... (I needed to buy one of the new punch styles when they first came out to show people the new style) well after getting over the "bird thing" it's probably the punch I use the most now closely followed by the Scallop Circle Punch.

Here is a card I made for a friend's husband to give his wife for her 40th Birthday. I knew her favourite colour was Razzleberry (the even bigger challenge was that I ended up making three cards for the same person all very different in Razzleberry - one contained a voucher and the other was a card from me - I'll post those over the next few days).

This is a gift voucher cover I made for Christmas. In the above photo you can not see but it is sprayed with Shimmer paint (Mix of isopropyl alcohol and our Stampin' Up! Shimmer paint in Champagne Mist). The photo below shows it up better the bits that look white are where the shimmer mist is - it looks white when you use a flash.

Christmas Present wrapped

This is a little box that I designed to fit a new style Stampin' Up! Extra Large Punch (sorry the measurements are lost on my tables somewhere).

The box has a lid that snuggly fits over the top. The colours I have used are Riding Hood Red and Vanilla. The Riding Hood Red ribbon that I used was received as part of the promotion in October/November Dressing up Christmas Promotion. When I first saw the wide ribbon I wondered what I was going to do with it........ but now I think it is great. Promotions are great for trying out different products.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day yesterday - we had a quiet day at home with a couple of extras and lots of food.

I would like to say that I hope that we stop having boxing day soon ........ I'd like to know who awoke the underground monster .........23 aftershocks in the last 24 hours it all started just after 2am this morning. The 4.9 this morning at 10.30am caused a few things to fall over and we definitely get rocked around..........

Scallop Square Pen Caddy

For quite some time I have had some undecorated cans on my desk and thought it was time to have a proper pen caddy, when I saw the New Scallop Square Sizzix Die I thought I would make a pen caddy.

Materials

Other: Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon, Tombow Multi, Crop-a-dile Basic, DSP backing board

What I did was I cut out two scallop squares using backing board from DSP and then layered a Scallop Square of Greenhouse Gala on the front and Pear Pizzazz on the inside. I punched out holes to thread the ribbon through using the crop-a-dile you use several metres of ribbon to lace it all up.

Ok I think I got a little carried away with the Smooch spray you probably don't need to use as much as I did ...... in real life it is quite golden and sparkly. To make the flower on the front I have used two of the 2 3/8" Scallop circles and scored down between the petals and then valley and mountain folded it. Glue the two together and put an itty bitty punch and button on the centre.

I hope I've given you some inspiration to make something with the new products from the Summer Mini Catalogue.

Princess Tess

Totally Tess as a Princess

Yesterday was Laura's birthday and I needed to make a card for her. We had been practising making roses but never actually made anything so I thought her card had to have roses on it. She told her brother that he had to make her a card with a princess on so I thought I would too but there was no way I could use the same stamp he did (her favourite stamp set is Pretty Princess which has unfortunately retired). So I went through my current stamps to find something suitable - I thought Tess would look quite good as a Princess so here is my attempt at Princess Tess. Oh and I just had to play with my new new shimmer paint too (30ml Isopropyl alcohol and 10 drops shimmer paint to make shimmer mist) :-).

Christchurch Women's Expo

Just a reminder about the Women's Expo that is on this weekend. Catherine and I had a very busy day today and I would say that tomorrow it will be busy too (usually we do a small make and take but after the first half an hour there was no way that was going to happen there were so many people coming in (if you missed on doing a make and take book a workshop and you can make one or come to one here). This year the Expo is FREE ENTRY (normally $10) Peacock Promotions who run the Women's Lifestyle Expo made entry free with the help of the Canterbury Star and The Breeze to show their support to the people of Canterbury.

Here is a picture of our stand before I left last night - I didn't have time to take more photos today. Yes for all you Bright sparks out there, there is something missing but that was rectified this morning ........... (can you spot what's wrong??? Post your answer as a comment :-). The stand shall we say was a tad fuller with things this morning.

So if you are in Christchurch come along and see us tomorrow Sunday 26th September at CBS Canterbury Arena (formerly Westpac Trust Arena) we will be there from 10am - 5pm pop passed and say hello.

Earthquake update:

Just a little note before you get started hopping around. I've had lots of emails from all over the world with regards to the Earthquake (a 7.1 quake starting on Saturday 4th September 2010 at 4.35am) we have had here in Christchurch.......... we had a few breakages around the house and lots of stuff thrown everywhere (ok just as I'm typing this we are shaking......... not enough to leave the computer desk though you get used to knowing when you need to head to the door) we have quite a few hairline cracks around the house nothing major but I'm so over the aftershocks and actually getting a good nights sleep would be nice. For those of you that aren't aware of how often we are having the aftershocks have a look here http://www.christchurchquakemap.co.nz/ it's a great visual of the quakes (wow we are only up to 688). Thankfully the aftershocks are slowing down and getting smaller but we are still getting them at night and I wake for most of them (but I think last night I crashed and slept through them). Milk Die Cracker (or should it be called Quaker)

What we have here is a creation I made up I was finding the milk carton quite small so played around and made it bigger - I kept looking at the milk carton die and thought if you put it on it's side it would look like a cracker............. so in a bout of tired daze this is what was created.

Vintage Wallpaper Scallop Circle Card

I thought I'd share a version of a swap card I made. I love simple cards and I think this would classify as simple. I saw this idea on Patty's blog and just had to have a play. Here's a mini tutorial of how I did my card:

Here I have used a folded piece of Razzleberry card I put the fold so it cuts off 4 scallops (using the big shot Scallop Circle Die), which I find is a good number to make a scallop circle card.

Next I cut a circle with a 9cm diameter of Whisper White card using the Stampin' Up! circle scissor plus.

Here I have use the circle cutter and cut out several circles from a card front size (I used backing from a make and take from Convention) and then sandwiched the layers together the circle was 6.5cm I drew the lines on to make it easier centring the embossing so I get it where I wanted. I used three layers - it needs to be a reasonable thickness.


This is the sandwich you need to make so that you have a circle in the middle where there is NO embossing so you can stamp your image. I have put a piece of Razzleberry in the background so you can see the layers. I have put the circle of Whisper white in between the layers so I can emboss it I try and match it so it is centred in the embossing folder. I then put the template I made with circles cut out underneath the embossing folder.(this is NOT in the middle of the embossing folder) - I centre the circle cut out over the white circle (this why the lines on my template come in handy). The template underneath is going to be like a cutting mat because it is several layers you will not need two mats for your bigshot (I had to have a play around with what worked for my machine).

Here is the sandwich I use in my Big Shot note I use Tabs 1 and Tabs 2 to pack the layers up because I am only using one cutting mat on top - run through your machine.


This is what your circle should look like a blank circle in the middle but embossed around the edges so you can stamp your image in the middle.

Here I have rock and rolled the new stamp from the Printed Petals set. I have used So Saffron (ink the whole stamp first in the lightest colour first) and then you rock and roll the stamp on Rich Razzleberry - being careful not to get the Razzleberry on the centre of the flower (I think Daffodil Delight ink will look even better when I get one to have a play with). Stamp the image in the middle and then using a sponge, sponge the edge with a bit of So Saffron ink.


Bling your brads - I love to add glitter to my brads just put some Tombow on the top of the brad and dip it into your glitter here I have used the Olive from the Fine Supernova Stampin' Glitter. So all you need to do punch the largest flower from the Boho Blossoms punch and put the brad through the middle attach to the front with a dimensional and then assemble your card.

Quick Customer order tag

Here is a little card I have been making that is really quick to make using Whisper White card (you get 10 per A4 Sheet). You can easily use markers and colour some of the For You wording for something different and you could easily add some bling too.

Stamps: For You Flower (this is a new single stamp not a whole set)

Cardstock: Whisper white

Ink: Rich Razzleberry

Punches: Fancy Flower Punch

Other: Twine

Vicki's Bicki bags
Why I hear you say are these called Vicki's Bicki bags because my 6 year old daughter said they were. I have been looking to make something for a while that you can put biscuits in at Christmas I make a lot of Espresso shortbread and thought this was the ideal bag to put them in. I was surfing blogs looking for a template I could use but none of them were right for what I wanted so I decided why do I need someone else's template when I can do it myself so several sheets of copier paper later I came up with my bag with a window in it. It also used a full sheet of 12 x 12 DSP (many bags I had seen were smaller than 12 x 12 - I hate cutting up DSP and cutting off bits doesn't work for me - why waste bits on the side when you can make it that little bit bigger. So here is the finished bags.

Ink: Ruby Red

Bigshot: Lots of Tags Sizzlit

Christmas Coloured Flower Pin

I also wanted to make a Flower pin and thought I'd do it in Christmas colours and was thinking I didn't have any buttons that matched so I thought lets try a build-a-brad so I dusted them off (yes they have been sitting there I was wondering what I should do with them). So here is my Christmas coloured Flower Pin made using polar fleece and the bigshot.

Ink: Riding Hood Red

Did you miss out on getting into my SENZ classes well I’m going to teach them again on Saturday 14th August 2010 at Cotswold Preschool 37 Colesbury Street in Bishopdale (just across from my house).

I will be teaching my Cottage Garden Class where you make 6 cards with matching envelopes and I will also teach my Handbag class which has mini handbag cards inside. I will also be joined by Katrina Criglington who will teach her Scrapbooking class she had at SENZ.

So keep Saturday 14th August free. Book in to do all the classes or choose which you would like to do. After the classes are finished stay on for a crop session.

Well it's hard to believe that SENZ is over........... We had a great time even if a little shattered after it was finished - I still have boxes to unpack but that will happen over the next few days. I thought I'd share a picture of our Stand and some of my team that were at SENZ.

On the left is Katrina, then me and Catherine on the right.

If we are looking a little tired this photo was taken just before we started pulling everything apart.

I'll post a few more things from SENZ over the next few days.

16 Year Old Bling card

What were you doing five years ago?

Can you remember what you were doing five years ago today? I can. It's hard to believe that it was five years ago that I was in hospital I had just had my right hip resurfaced (4th July 2005) and I was starting to learn how to walk again. You know you have a problem when you can not walk your 5 year old 5 minutes to school and that's pushing a pram with an 18 month old in. When you have small children it's a big thing to have major surgery .......... but looking back it is the best thing I could have done. I now live in a two storey house with my craft room upstairs (I would have never contemplated stairs pre surgery).

Living in constant pain really does your head in. After the surgery I finally realised that I didn't have to live in constant pain. The best part about learning to walk again was I don't have a waddle any more. For years I used to have a waddle and when I learnt to walk again I was adamant that I was not going to waddle .......... so very few people know that I have big chunks of metal in my hip (you will if you ever go flying with me as I beep at the airports and always take extra time going through security checks....... as all the alarms go off .........).

I also remember that it was 5 years ago that they had the bombings in London as I watched constant updates on TV while I was in bed wondering where our friends in London were and were they all right.

Sorry for the delay in posting this - life has been busy since I got back from Convention.

So do you really want to know how many punches were in my swaps - well if you look at the photo below there are EIGHT per flower and ONE for the sentiment so that's NINE per card not including the Top Note Die ............ and how many did I make for Convention only 87 ............ so that makes 783 punches for my swaps - (if you are making swaps don't use 9 punches per card it takes waaayyyy tooooooo long...........).

So the closest person would be Alison P with 800 punches......... Alison I don't have your email address so hopefully you will read this and send me your details through so I can send you a card. Thanks everyone for playing along.

Stampin' Up! Convention Swaps ............ Sydney 2010

As promised this is my Swap I did for Convention this year. (sorry the photo is a bit dark it's been very overcast and rainy here today so I had trouble getting a nice bright photo - glossy cardstock is a little harder to photograph). With a little help I can't believe I actually got to over 80 of these (final count is yet to be done before I leave for Convention). There is way more work in these than I first thought hence why I stopped at just over 80.

As you can see my swaps for this year are made using my favourite new colours Razzleberry, Old Olive and a little bit of Soft Suede. Yes I'm completely mad............ I've made 80 or so of these.......

I thought I'd share my Convention swaps from last year as I'm in the process of making my swaps for this year. These are half sized Tri-fold cards (sorry the photos aren't that great I should find the original cards and re-photograph them). Quick packaging for a baby gift

This is a little box that I made quickly yesterday to put in a patchwork ball that my MIL made for my daughters ballet teacher who just had a baby. This box was very quick to make using a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock scored at 4" ..... so it looks like a 3 x 3 grid and then you score the corners on an angle (you can trim the corners if you wish) so it forms a collapsible box. I then made a lid for on the top (sorry I forgot to take photos of the ball and the inside of the box.).

Here is my first card - I love the look of the two step stamping of these flowers from the new stamp set Cottage Garden. The button I have made by gluing together six layers of cardstock buttons.

Materials

Stamps: Cottage Garden (in the new clear mounts stamps), Occasional Greetings (Mother's Day stamp)
Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Whisper White

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive

Bigshot: Top Note Die, Stampin' Up! Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder, Sizzlits Dies Buttons #5.
Other: Tombow Multi adhesive, 1/2" Polka-Dot Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon, Linen Thread, dimensionals.
Because I'm indecisive I had to make another Mother's Day card so here is another version (do you get the feeling you are seeing a lot of the new Rich Razzleberry my new favourite colour?):

Materials

Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Occasional Greetings (Mother's Day stamp)
Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Whisper White

Ink: Rich Razzleberry

Bigshot: Stampin' Up! Sweetest Stem
Other: Tombow Multi adhesive, dimensionals, sponge dauber, Clear Rhinestone brad.

..........and I've saved my favourite for last.............. this is very simple but looks nice.

Materials

Stamps: None used
Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Cottage Wall DSP

Punches: Scallop circle punch

Bigshot: Top Note Die
Other: Tombow Multi adhesive, 1/2" Polka-Dot Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon, mini glue dots, Clear Rhinestone brad, Jumbo Eyelets, Crop-a-dile, Velcro dots.

The flower is very easy to do you just crumple up the seven scallop circle punches and then put the Rhinestone brad through the middle to hold it all together - you may need to adjust them a bit once they are held together with the brad to make it a bit puffier.
